Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police state early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking official said the incident left him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
