New York Attorney General Faces Criminal Financial Fraud Charges
A federal grand jury brought charges against Letitia James for bank fraud this past Thursday, according to an informed source.
Lindsey Halligan personally presented the case to the grand jury on Thursday, the person said.
US attorneys do not typically present to a grand jury.
Halligan was installed in the role last month following Donald Trump became frustrated with the pace in ongoing probes targeting political opponents.
This action is the president’s latest effort to leverage federal justice authorities to target adversaries.
It comes 14 days following Halligan secured charges targeting the former FBI director.
Experienced attorneys prepared a memo regarding that situation outlining why charges lacked merit.
Comey pleaded not guilty this past Wednesday.
